Default Pride 2: Royce Gracie vs Mark Kerr Poll

Prime Royce Gracie vs Prime undefeated UFC 14 and 15 Champion Mark Kerr. Pride 2, 1998.

This was the scheduled main event for Pride 2.
Royce pulled out at the last second due to injury so the fight became Mark Kerr vs Branko Cikatic.

I'm assuming this would have been no time limit, no draw.

If you go unlimited rounds, I think Gracie would be able to outlast Kerr until he gassed at which point Gracie would manage to work in for the eventual submission.

Kerr's defensive jiu-jitsu was always decent, and Royce was never able to submit anyone with an ounce of ground game. On top of that, Kerr in his day was the best wrestler in MMA so he would've been more than capable of keeping the fight standing where he was also better than Royce. I think Kerr wouldn't have had too tough of a time with this fight.

Kerr did beat Fabio Gurgel (no relation to Whorge Gurgel) by unanimous decision in the final of the World Vale Tudo Championships previous to this. He did this on the same night he beat Paul the Polar Bear Varlens and Mestre Hulk in a 8 man tournament.

Kerr went on to win ADCC in 1999 +99 kg, and 2000 + 99 kg and Absolute, but this would have been after Pride 2 and the Royce Gracie fight.

You can see from the brackets all the BJJ guys he beats:

Royce wouldn't have the strength to stop Kerr. It would've been the Hughes-Gracie fight if Hughes was a HW
