Default Big John McCarthy returns to ref UFC on Versus 2

http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/07/2...at-ufc-on-ver/

Wonder if Dana will go off on him like he does Mazzagatti?

Big John coming back is the best news I've heard in a long while. Best referee in the sport needs to be on the most high profile events.

Great to hear. McCarthy is easily the best ref in the game.

I remember a few years ago there was a thread about who would go into the UFC HOF next. I mentioned BJM, and everyone seemed to agree...

My how things changed quickly.

The UFC has no say in the refs that are put in charge.Im sure Dana still hopes John dies in a fire.

I still think it's in the best interest of everyone if he isn't involved in reffing UFC fights.

I realize he's one of the best in the game, but I think some of his stances when he tried to go famechasing by branching out sort of make his involvement a conflict of interest.

I don't think he would **** up a fight to be an ass, because I truly believe he isn't that kind of person, but if he makes a questionable call during a big fight just out of unintentional negligence (these things happen in MMA) it's going to start a firestorm of "Did Big John do that to get back at Dana White?" and that's just a completely unnecessary thing to have floating over the sport right now.

The fact that he's writing a book about his MMA life that is being co-written by Loretta Hunt of all people doesn't help the situation at all either.

That's basically what I was commenting on....That BJM used to be a favorite for the HOF but has since ended up on the UFC's **** list and is now about as close to the HOF as C.B. Dolloway.

To be clear, I wasn't saying that he's now on good terms with them simply because the AC assigned him this fight.

I know that's the official line but i think its bull****. Kizer and Dana are practically sitting on a tree, f u c k i n g. If Dana had any integrity, he would've been saying that BJM is the best ref, not Herb Dean, and that he wished he had worked in the UFC again much sooner.

BJM spoke ill of the organization and as a result, as i pointed out months ago, was that he got blackballed by the commission and the UFC (Dana, Fertitas). The Company policy is that if you speak ill, you get your knees broken by way of being put out in the rain.

If you disagree with this you're just wrong.

Steve Mazzagatti would be parking cars if this was the case

I guess all those opportunities that McCarthy retired from reffing to tackle didn't play out so well since he is back to reffing.
